Baby

Well to be honest I have no idea where the post that just said 'BABY TROUBLE" came from.  I would not post that and leave everyone worried.  I have been pretty much at work when I can be and at the hospital without my computer the rest of the time.....

On Tuesday Jacquie stayed the day with me cause it was my day off and we hung out like we normally do.  Rusty came over after work to eat and watch A I and when it was time for them to go home Jacquie was feeling kinda cruddy and decided she could not handle the drive home and would just rather stay put in the recliner.. Today was the first day when the spotting had almost stopped and I almost posted how great things were going.  My brother got out of the hospital and my back was actually feeling ok.  No pain meds that day.  So not wanting to jinx anything I did not post.

The bleeding started again and what Jacquie thought were just cramps started.  The bleeding was getting worse and the cramps were putting Jacquie in tears.  Well at about 2:30 in the morning I convinced her to let me take her to the Hospital.  No more emergency room cause she was at 22 weeks.  So to labor and delivery we went.  She was not dilated at all but her cervix  was thinning.  Not dangerous but thinner than should be.  Her cramps were contractions that were 2 min apart.  They decided to keep her for observation.

She was started on  Magnesium to stop the contractions, had and ultrasound, got a cath. put in and was to stay down.  The cath was short lived cause Jacquie was so irritates she could not tolerate it.  She could use a bed side commode and that was all the activity she could have.

Eventually the contractions stopped so they decided to take her off the Mag and maybe she could go home.  Again something else that was short lived.  They started again and she was having them quite often again so back on the Mag and back with the cath.  She would just have to deal this time.  The Mag was not stopping the contractions so they had to up the dose.  Finally they stopped and the Dr came in and ordered another ultrasound and talked about transferring her to a level 3 hospital.  The ultrasound showed that her cervix has shortened a bit more and it did not look like she had dilated  but they will not do a vaginal to be sure.  The amniotic fluid is in the low range which could go along with everything that is going on.  Her bleed has also doubled in size and is back to where it was weeks ago.

Today things remain the same.  They are backing off the Mag and checking her levels.  They were going to transfer her but a neonatologist came in for a consult and they decided to keep her where she is for another week.  Here is the deal.. Baby's will not live under 24 week.. They just do not have lungs that will work.  Steroids are not effective yet so they won't give them.  There are those babies that are miracles and come out fighting and can cry.  Those they try to save.  Others fight to breath and they can't and therefore can no be saved.  Each day he is in there his chances for survival increase.  The Dr does not like statistics but since we asked at 24 weeks maybe  30 to 40 percent chance and in just one more week at 25 weeks 60 to 70 percent will live.  They will give steroids at 24 weeks in 2 doses and that will help his chances.  They do not think he will be a full term baby but we pray for each day we keep him in there.

So she will stay at Gateway till they consider the baby viable which is 24 weeks.  They will transfer her to Desert if she can make it to next Sat which would put her at 23 weeks 4 days.  She is so up and down emotionally which is expected but the Mag is really yucky stuff to be on and intensifies it all.  So hopefully our little fighter will continue to grow and stay put for as long as he can.  Keep us in your prayers please and with the Lords will Kaden will be able to continue his fight.
