Kaden

He is doing well. He made it to the 4 pound weight and that meant moving into a "big boy bed" He is in a tiny crib and maintaining his own body temperature. He was switched to oxygen that has moisture added and is doing well on it. He is learning to use a binky and learning to get familiar with a bottle. He takes about 3 cc's when he is offered a bottle but it takes a while for him to consume that small amount. He gets tired and they only try it every so often. The eye Dr came in on Friday and it looks like he will need eye surgery after all. The Dr will be in tomorrow to see him again and he is not allowed to have his 11 am feed cause he may go right in to surgery sometime tomorrow. It is hard not knowing when or if he will have surgery but with these little guys that is how it goes. They change so often they just never know. If he has surgery he will be back on the ventilator. It could be for a few hours or days just depending on Kaden and how he does. It's all a roller coaster. Tough part is the never knowing things till they happen. His nurse today did say he would probably have the surgery sometime after 11 depending on the O R schedule in the morning and what the Dr sees when he comes in. He did have another brain scan and the small bleeds are looking good. He has had a small cyst on his brain since he was born that they have also been monitoring. It has remained the same as far as size and location since birth. It has been something that in the back of my mind I have worried about and not something we have told anyone about. We put it on the back burner as something not to worry about till latter cause there were more pressing issues and they would not do anything about it right now anyway. Rusty has always said it was nothing to worry about and he would be fine. Rusty is MR POSITIVE always. Well this last brain scan showed absolutely no sign of it. Gone. Nothing. This little guy is so amazing. So another long day in the NICU tomorrow and I will keep you posted.

Getting stuck on the ventilator again was always my biggest worry with Heidi. Hopefully, he'll be strong and stubborn (like he hasn't shown any of THAT yet!), and recovery will be quick. Four pounds, yahoo!
